To the Man Who Said “F*ck You” for being a Nurse

I don’t know who you are or how badly the past couple of years have influenced your life, but I do hope you are okay. On the other hand, I am not the one to be upset with.
Let me paint a picture of what happened…
After a comedy show, I was chatting with the other comedians, when an intoxicated man approached us. He acknowledged that he was very drunk and looked at me. I responded, “At least you are aware of it!” in a lighthearted manner.
He stared for a few seconds before putting his middle finger about a foot away from my face, said “You’re a nurse. The CDC is lying to us…” and the yelled something along the lines of supporting the Freedom Convoy. He then wandered off into the night. (If you haven’t heard of the convoy, it’s worth looking up this recent piece of Canadian history.)
Even now I have this icky feeling about the interaction, but also saying to myself, “This shouldn’t bother me so much.” That said, there is so much more to this…
The following writings include my reaction at the time and the aftermath once I returned home. Sticks and stones break bones, but words? They can be more harmful than you know…
